new nanny

We have a new live in nanny now and NAthan has really picked up quickly with her. The last live in lasted 3 weeks and during those 3 weeks, nathan would never let her change, feed, or clothe him. This morning was the first morning for the new nanny and upon waking, he let her change his diaper, change his clothes, feed him breakfast, and proceeded to play with her and follow her around the house.

Not only that, but much to Eileen's chagrin, when he wanted to go outside, he didn't want eileen to put the jacket on him, but said "no...edith" meaning he wanted edith to put the jacket on. Eileen and I have been relegated to 2nd class citizens in his world now!!! hahahaa

Nathan is talking up a storm. Matthew is moving a lot

Matthew is slower than nathan in his development, we blame putting him in a 'wedge' to sleep for so long that he never moved much in his sleep. at least now he tosses and turns like nathan (and eileen) does when he sleeps. he prefers sleeping on his side which is funny looking to me (back sleeper). he now moves around a lot more. he's FINALLY started to push back on his crawling which will lead to him moving forward soon we hope.

this past week, nathan has really just stated to chat a LOT. much of it is somewhat non-understandable, but most of it is 'nathan' talk. for example...bulldozer comes out like "dabuddader" or something like that. motorcycle comes out like "motokyakya". too many syllables i suppose...

no sleep again.

last night, matthew has been totally congested so he only ate 3 oz prior to going to sleep. so he kept waking up hungry at night...poor baby! but he couldn't feed because his nose was completely clogged up so when you put the bottle in, he'd swallow but when he tried to breathe, he coudln't so he would suck in milk and cough up stuff. he had to learn how to breathe through his mouth last night too which wasn't going too well.

so eileen and i basically woke up every 2 hours when he woke up and cried and we'd have to hold him upright so he'd fall back asleep then put him back into the sitting/upright swing (he couldn't sleep flat or he couldn't breathe well). Being upright helped a *bit* in that he could sometimes breathe a touch through his nose.

We were tied enough that one time eileen was up to get him and i didn't even remember seeing her get up. and one time i was holding matthew and i didn't even see eileen stir. guess we'll both be quite tired tonight! :-)

What IS that?

Nathan has picked up new words. "What is that?" was first heard yesterday at the Chinese bubble tea store. BTW, the emphasis is on "is". he stressed that word the most so it's a quiet what followed by a louder and higher pitched IS and ending with a quieter lower pitched that....He has since started combining words and using more complete sentences. He also switches between chinese, spanish and english fairly regularly.

Today I caught him on camera waking up and thinking about trying to climb out again (look below). He did this many months ago and he still remembers "BONK" as he oft points out when he points at the ground over this corner. He's not a morning/wake up person at all and he's been very whiny and wanting mom to hold him after this 4pm wake up time. I put him in time out for a bit and that quieted him down some but he got his whine back on within a short time.
he's lucky he didn't fall out and crack his hard head open...teetering like a see saw here...

frog sleeper

as seen on our security cameras during nathan's daily nap. hilarious eh? he sleeps like a frog here. he's wearing fleece long johns so i know he's not cold. usually he's sprawled all over the place. uh oh...i see him up and looking around now...and he just threw out his dog, game over...now he's looking up at the camera...time to go get him i guess...

matthew has a tooth showing this morning!

nathan still likes acting like a baby. or he just likes being around his brother a lot (definitely this)...
copying the little one... matthew tends to eat more from his left hand, nathan from his right. but matthew also eats his right thumb too sometimes. guess we'll have a southpaw in the family here...this could come from my dad who is left handed.

can't really see it in this picture. matthew kept grabbing the camera and all but there is a small white spot starting to show on (picture left side) and matthew's right side. first tooth! this explains all the waking up lately and crying here and there... both of our kids have done pretty well with teething. they don't really cry all that much compared to most and they just wake up a bit more to cry a bit then go back to bed. what troopers!!!
